Indoor University Track is a Waste of Time

While all the USports athletes are out collecting their participation medals for strolling around some oddly shaped mickey mouse tracks and losing count of how many laps are even in their race, serious athletes have been putting in big base work and getting ready for the real deal competitions in outdoor track season. Why waste time in the indoor oval?

The rankings aren’t so bad either: USports/CIS Indoor Track & Field Rankings
Take the men’s 1000m or 1500m: all top 12 are below the auto qualifying mark.

Obviously running outdoors is the ultimate objective for everyone but why turn down some chance to run a couple of fun fast races?

Why ruin your hip alignment on a pocket-sized track when you can load the roads and shred the treds all winter? Or sit around and eat chips like me while trolling on postboards.

After a 2 year and one whole season hiatus - the OUA Track & Field Championships returned last week and the level of competition, and enthusiasm and keenness of the athletes was fantastic! Full marks to everyone for keeping the fires burning and the lights on through all of the pandemic shutdowns and restrictions!
